Hereby Huawei officially introduces Mate 9 and Mate 9 Porsche Design
The design of the new Mate 9 has little difference from the Mate 8 as it comes with a large 5.9 inches display, 2.5D curved glass and a near zero bezel. It’s display is at Full HD resolution with 96% NTSC and aspect ratio at 1500:1
The Mate 9 also features the new processor highlighted earlier – the Kirin 960. The chipset is based on ARM A73 (4x Cortex A73 + 4x Cortex A53) forming an octacore CPU. Its GPU is powered by ARM latest Mali G71 Mp9 that relies on Vulkan API with graphics rendering performance highest than Adreno GPU from Snapdragon 821.
The Kirin 960 based Mate 9 is also proven with faster app launch time that out performs iPhone 7 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. With the Vulkan API support, it is expected to boost gaming experience with a significant value.
For a faster and a smoother symphony between hardware and software, Mate 9 also comes with Machine Learning Algorithm that collects and learn from user for the resource allocation that provides 80% smoother user experience.
It also have a vertical dual rear camera certified by LEICA.
The Mate 9 camera is a combination of 12MP and 20MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, Hybrid AF, LED Flash and OIS. It also support 4K video recording image stabilization thanks to Kirin 960.
The Hybrid AF further promotes the depth of field or Bokeh effect.
While supporting dual SIM standby, the Mate 9 also support Whatsapp and Facebook for second SIM.
The 4000mAh battery is said last for 20 hours talk time, 20 hours 4G internet, 30 hours 3GB talk time and 105 hours of music playback.
Despite having a large battery, it also supports 5V/5A super charge with proven 58% recharge for just 30 minutes. Huawei official also states that you can watch 2 movies with 10 minutes charge and 20 minutes charge can last you a day.
Besides, the Mate 9 also has a lower charging temperature from Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has less 50% heat dissipated from the smartphone.
It also comes with 5 gate protection to prevent battery explosion incident from Note 7.
The Mate 9 is available in Space Gray, Moonlight Silver, Mocha Brown, Champagne Gold, Ceramic White and Black.
For the Mate 9 Porsche design, it is the first Huawei flagship to come with dual curved display.
It still sport the Kirin 960 SoC but comes with a 5.5 inches 2K display, 6GB RAM and 256GB storage space. Its camera specs and battery capacity remains the same.
Another distinct point of Mate 9 Porsche design is the front facing fingerprint sensor that can perform multitasking via gesture navigation.
Besides, it will be soon available in Malaysia as it has passed SIRIM certification!
