MediaTek, a Taiwanese mobile chip manufacturer has been producing mid-range processors for smartphone for many years and it is still one of the popular choice in entry level and mid-range device primarily in China market. In the meantime, a new source reveals that the Helio P70 SoC will be launched in this month and it comes with some exciting feature – NPU.
The 12nm process P70 SoC will be manufactured by another Taiwan chip maker TSMC and it has 4x Cortex A53 and 4x Cortex A73 with Mali G72 as the GPU. It is also highly likely that it brings NPU in action for their first generation SoC that supports advanced AI.
If the alleged claim is true, MediaTek could be joining in the NPU SoC family as more and more smartphone chip manufacturer such as Huawei HiSilicon, Qualcomm has begun its development for NPU to aid better AI. It will likely be on-par with the newly launched Snapdragon 710.
