OPPO Find X is finally unveiled at Paris 2 days ago and its has boosted its reputation and fame to worldwide smartphone geeks and consumers. It looks nothing from the conventional smartphone with bezel filled display and it is not even possible to locate its sensors and front camera if you didn’t read our news on its coverage. It is one of the industry pioneer for the pop-up camera where it stays hidden on the device and elevates when front camera mode is toggled. By removing the top and bottom bezels, it brings the screen to body ratio to the industrial largest 93.8%!
With such large screen, it brings Samsung OLED display into action as be seen on the dual curved front display panel. Despite having a significant resemblance of Galaxy S9 and S9+, OPPO has named the curved display as Panoramic Arc concept which achieved true bezel-less display. All sensors and microphones or either hidden or relocated to the top, bottom or on the sides. Unfortunately, OPPO has removed the 3.5mm classical audio jack that most loved.
Unfortunately, OPPO Find X doesn’t comes with wireless charging technology similarly with the OnePlus 6. But with the addition of 3730mAh battery and VOOC quickcharging technology, it makes wireless charging unimportant as battery can be quickly restored in a short charge.
OPPO also removed the fingerprint sensor but replaced with multilayer facial recognition for security and authentication, similar with the Apple Face ID.
The Find X (standard edition) is available in 2 colours – Bordeaux Red and Glacier Blue. Both comes with gradient colour that brings out the calm and fluency of the colours.
“Now you see me, now you don’t”
The OPPO Find X encapsulates its front facing camera in a hidden compartment that can be raised when the front camera is toggled. The entire “elevation” process only requires 0.5 seconds and OPPO claims that the elevation motor can last up to over tenth thousands time in 5 years span.
It is also spiced with AI for scene recognition in all the image taken by the 16MP + 20MP dual rear camera. It can easily achieve background blurring and portrait mode with the help of bi-camera.
The front facing camera also combines with 3D facial construction that pin points over 15000 unique facial features of user for face recognition and unlock. It is highly accurate and practical even in low light environment. Their O-Face technology is likely to fail once in 100,000 attempt and this promising its accuracy and convenience for smartphone payment and authentication solution.
With the addition of 3D face structuring, OPPO also adds in 3D Omoji for AR animated facial expression.
As for its hardware, it brings state of the art Snapdragon 845 with 8GB RAM and storage up to 256GB ROM. The software that powers the system are the newest Android 8.1 customized to ColorOS 5.1 and we can experience the swiftness in action during our short hands on.
