One of the leader in smartphone System on Chip manufacture and development – Qualcomm has launched 3 new processor that targets the entry and mid-range level against MediaTek. This includes the quadcore based Snapdragon 425 and the octacore based Snapdragon 625 and 435. These new SoC from Qualcomm is likely to be used in entry level and mid-range smartphones launched in this year.
The Snapdragon 425 features 4 Cortex-A53 core with 28nm LP manufacturing process clocked at 1.4Ghz. It also comes with the Adreno 308 as its GPU. Besides, it also supports up to 16MP rear camera and 1280×800 resolution with the support of X6 LTE base.
On the other side, it also features eMMC 5.1, supports for 802.11ac and quickcharge 2.0 from Qualcomm
The Snapdragon 435 is a SoC that comes with 8 Cortex A53 core clocked at 1.4Ghz with 28nm LP manufacturing process. It also features Adreno 505 as its GPU and supports 21MP rear camera and Full HD display with X8 LTE connectivity. Besides, it also features LPDDR3 800Mhz flash memory, eMMC 5.1, 802.11ac wireless network and supports Qualcomm Quickcharge 3.0.
The Snapdragon 625 is also an 8 core Cortex A53 SoC clocked at 2Ghz with 14nm manufacturing process. It also sports the Adreno 506 as its GPU and supports 24MP rear camera and 1900 x 1200 resolution and X9 LTE (LTE Cat.7) connectivity support. It features LPDDR3 933Mhz flash memory, eMMC 5.1, 802.11ac connectivity and supports Quick Charge 3.0 from Qualcomm.
In short, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor offers much more functionality in comparison to MediaTek Helio X10 processor. How would MediaTek fights its stance against Qualcomm?
