The display industry has been pretty much dominated by Sharp, LG, BOE and Samsung and most smartphone manufacturer has to rely to these manufacturer giant to get the newest display tech on their smartphone. Apple, long known for relying display from Sharp and Samsung might be changing their brands to reduce its dependency towards Samsung for the display on their next iPhones or iPads.
According to sources, Apple has tested out several OLED display from BOE and satisfied with the quality it provides. Thus Apple has agreed that the OLED manufacturing for future Apple devices will be handled over to BOE without relying solely on Samsung on it display.
In terms on manufacturing, Samsung has offer a better standpoint in terms on technology and the quantity per time. However, with more development goes in the BOE’s screen manufacturing section, it could bring direct competition to Samsung display manufacturing who is currently monopolizing the entire OLED display industry.
