Just as you think that security PIN, pattern and fingerprint unlock is sufficient to keep your phone safe, Apple has now rolled out a new technology that unlocks the phone and tablet with a face-recognition technology. The front facing camera can detects the unique bio-metric data present on the face and thus unlock the mobile phone. The patent also states that the devices can store multiple facial expression and images inside thus device can be shared between users.
However, this face-recognition unlock technology isn’t surprisingly new in the mobile and laptop industry. Years ago Google has developed similar technology that unlocks device with face recognition and found that this technology contains severe vulnerability which can be exploited for malicious use. Thus, Google then encourage their uses to use an alternative unlock method for their mobile devices.
