China passed new law where password will be managed by government

With the strict restrictions on internet law in China, they will be now adding more law where government is able to manage its citizen online password. This will give them full access to password of their citizen and their intention is to “safety protection”

This “Password Law” contains 5 chapters and 44 articles, which divides passwords into 3 types of management, including core passwords, ordinary passwords, and commercial passwords. The core passwords and ordinary passwords are listed as state secrets, and commercial passwords are not. For confidentiality, these passwords are used by citizens, legal persons and other organizations.

This law stipulates that the central government has the right to manage network passwords. For those who have “security risks”, they must establish an “early warning” system to “eliminate hidden dangers” in order to maintain national security. Relevant staff members have the responsibility of keeping secrets, and must not privately request or disclose passwords to relevant units and personnel.
