According to recent report from local credible news portal Sin Chew Jit Poh, All mobile prepaid consumer no longer have to pay the additional 6% GST for the desired amount of prepaid value because the GST has been charged within the total amount paid and the value left is credited into the mobile phone. For example, 57 cents was charged as GST in each RM10 top up value and the credit amount is RM9.43. This plan is schedule to start on the first of January next year.
However, most major telco in Malaysia claimed that they will be absorbing the GST during each reload card purchase. However, this benefits is only eligible for Malaysian citizen holding a valid Malaysia IC.
In short, consumer is able to be reload RM10 for the mobile phone number with each RM10 purchase on the reload card.
