DxOMark, the iconic camera benchmark and evaluation website has announced the top performers of front facing camera smartphones today. Their benchmark evaluates camera from different aspect and rates smartphone with scores over 100. Let’s have a look below!
The highest performing selfie camera smartphone goes to Google Pixel 3 and Galaxy Note 9. It follows by Mi Mix 3 and iPhone XS Max and Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. Even the top rated Huawei Mate 20 pro and P20 Pro camera were rated at 75 and 72 respectively.
DxOMark stated that Google Pixel 3 is slightly better in focus while Samsung Galaxy Note 9 gives better exposure and color. Google Pixel 3 offers slightly higher contrast and white balance, while the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 performs better on the face, making the photo look more natural.
It’s worth noting that Google Pixel 3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 9 are not the same in terms of detail and noise. Google Pixel 3 is excellent in indoor and low-light environments and strikes a good balance between texture reproduction and noise reduction. However, because Google Pixel 3 too focused on textures and details thus retaining some noise.
In contrast, Samsung Galaxy Note 9’s video stabilization is better than Google Pixel 3 thus win the self-timer video category.
Finally, DxOMark said that it will add more models from different category into comparison with update in the future.
