Huawei execs: will not launch Harmony OS smartphone till Android is banned

Huawei has launched the Harmony OS and its application on Huawei Developer Conference 2019 happening months ago. It is designed for multiple devices and can be compatible with Android app. It showcases the capability of Huawei on developing their own OS, a direct hit to Google Android.

However, based on a report by cnet, Huawei exec Vincent Yang expressed that Huawei will be not be launching Harmony OS smartphone unless Android were banned.

Huawei is looking forward to build the Android ecosystem together and hence they didn’t launch the Harmony OS into an independent phone. Ditching Android OS in the early stage could mean fall of the sales volume in European/US market where Android is heavily relied on.
