Huawei Mate 30 Series finally goes official, comes with 40MP quad camera and a 88° curve display

After much anticipation, the Huawei Mate 30 series are finally being launched by Huawei on Thursday, in a grand launch event held in Munich, Germany. As we expected, the Mate 30 series do comes with Kirin 990、40MP quad-camera setup, and a impressive curve display that have a extreme curvature of 88°.

 

Display wise, the Huawei Mate 30 comes with a 6.62-inch OLED display, and the Mate 30 Pro comes with a 6.53-inch curved OLED display, which have an extreme degree of curvature of 88°, creating an effect of an edge-less display. Both of these display supports under-display fingerprint sensor and a notch, and the Mate 30 Pro supports 3D-Depth Sensing Facial Recognition.

And for the 88° curvature of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro, Huawei had incorporate some edge-control function into it, including using it as shoulder buttons while gaming, and as shutter button while taking photos.

 

For design, the Huawei Mate 30 series comes with a circular-shaped camera module, which houses a rear quad-camera, and also uses a 3D glass back panel which provides excellent grip. Both Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro also comes with Space Silver, Emerald Green, Cosmic Purple and Black color options, and two special variant: Vegan Leather Forest Green and Vegan Leather, which has a leather-like texture at the back of the phone.

 

Besides, as previous leaks suggested, the Huawei Mate 30 Pro did not comes with physical volume button, but rather virtual slider on the edge of the screen, and user can adjust the volume using both side of the screen.

 

For the camera, Huawei Mate 30 Pro comes with a rear quad-camera setup, which consist of a 40MP SuperSensing wide lens, 40MP Ultra-Wide Cine lens, 8MP Telephoto lens and a 3D Depth Sensing Camera, and supports Dual OIS+AIS, and ISO level that goes to 409600. The Mate 30 however houses a triple-camera setup, which consist of a 16MP Ultra-Wide lens, 40MP SuperSensing wide lens, and a 8MP Telephoto lens.

 

This is also the first time Huawei utilized a 40MP Cine camera  (RGGB arrangement) with a 1/1.54-inch CMOS,  and a 40MP SuperSensing Camera (RYYB arrangement) with a 1/1.7-inch CMOS into one single device, which gives Huawei Mate 30 Pro excellent night-shot capability.

 

Videography capability had been one of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro’s main feature, which now supports 4K Cinematic Time-lapse, Real-time Bokeh video, and a whooping 7680fps Ultra Slow-mo! You might be able to capture a flying bullet with that!

 

For the front camera, the Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro both houses a 24MP front camera and a 32MP front camera respectively, with the Mate 30 Pro having an extra 3D Depth Sensor, which provides 3D Facial Recognition capability.

 

Huawei Mate 30 are powered by a powerful Kirin 990 processor, while the Mate 30 Pro are powered by a Kirin 990 5G prcessor, which provides both NSA and SA 5G connectivity. The Kirin 990 is a powerful processor, that are produced using 7nm+ EUV architecture, and comes with a Big-Tiny Core architecture NPU, which provides powerful AI capability to the phone.

 

Huawei Mate 30 houses a 4200mAh battery, which Mate 30 Pro houses a 4500mAh battery, which provides enough juice for a whole day. Both devices also supports 40W Wired Fast Charge and 27W Wireless Fast Charge, with Mate 30 Pro supports wireless reverse charging. Both devices are also water resistant, with IP53 and IP68 rating respectively.

 

The Huawei Mate 30 series are running the latest EMUI 10 OS, with plenty of features including Always-On Display, Dark Mode, magazine-styles Album, HiCar that turns your smartphone into car keys, and etc.

 

The pricing of the Mate 30 series are as below, and we will need to wait for announcement from Huawei Malaysia for local pricing and availability.
