Huawei Nova 5 series launched with 48MP quad camera, Kirin 810 from RM1207

Huawei has just launched the 5th generation Nova series mid-range smartphone. The Nova 5 series comes with Nova 5i, Nova 5 and Nova 5 Pro. It will bring a quad camera with Kirin 980 SoC with some variants offering the new Kirin 810 SoC.

As a selfie centric smartphone, it offers a 32MP camera with f/2.0 aperture with selfie beauty, AI HDR and even night mode.

For the rear lens, the Huawei Nova 5 Pro uses a rear quad-camera combination – a 48-megapixel lens for the main camera,  16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2 megapixel macro lens, and 2 Megapixel depth of field lens. At the same time, it also supports the handheld night shot function, and also adds the ability to shoot under bright light on the rear lens.

At the same time, the Huawei Nova 5 series has also been functionally optimized for filming, supporting HDR, AIS smart stabilization and other functions, as well as front-end video beauty, post-AI beauty body shaping, and the AI color retention feature.

The Huawei Nova 5 Pro is powered by Huawei’s most powerful Kirin 980 processor, while the Huawei Nova 5 is powered by the new Kirin 810 processor, which also supports the EROFS file management system and the Ark compiler. Among them, the Huawei Nova 5 series uses 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of ROM.

Huawei also offers the Kirin 810 which is position to mid to high end targeted for its better AI performance & 7nm process. The NPU architecture adopts the new DaVinci architecture, which claims to be more powerful in AI calculation. The core part of the architecture is two A76 big core plus six A55 small cores, while using the Mali-G52 GPU, and supporting Kirin Gaming + game technology which brings better gaming performance along with Huawei GPU Turbo.

the Huawei Nova 5 Pro uses a 40W fast charge of the same level as the Mate 20 Pro and P30 Pro. It claims to be able to charge 85% of its power at 30 minutes and pass the TUV Rheinland safety certification.

The Nova 5 series is able to support Huawei gamepad along with GPU Turbo. There is even an audio enhancement technology that beautifies your tone.

And here comes the Nova 5i

The Huawei 5i is equipped with a 6.4-inch aperture screen, which accounts for 90.6% of the screen. On the side note, the front 24MP camera supports AI for low light picture enhancement.

The Nova 5i is equipped with Kirin 710 processor, up to 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM and support for rear fingerprint recognition for unlock and equipped with a 4000mAh large battery.

As for its pricing, the Huawei Nova 5 Pro 8 + 128 and 8 + 256GB two versions is at 2999 yuan (about RM1812) and 3399 yuan (about RM2053) respectively. The Huawei Nova 5 for 2799 yuan (about RM1691). As for the price of the Nova 5i, 6+128GB sells for 1999 yuan (about RM1207), while 8+128GB sells for 2199 yuan (about RM1328).

Huawei also brings the Nova 5 Starshine limited edition gift box with Freelace earphone, smartphone accessories and retails at RMB3799. It will be available in China by 28th June and there is no details for local availability yet.
