HUAWEI, Xiaomi, OPPO & vivo creates “Global Developer Service Alliance” to compete with Google Play Store

According to Reuters, The 4 giant smartphone manufacturers in China namely OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi and HUAWEI is now developing their own app gallery and ecosystem under the name of Global Developer Service Alliance. It aims to compete with the current “monopoly” issue from Google Play Store which becomes one of the essential app on a smartphone to download other apps.

The platform will initially supports 9 countries which includes India, Russia, Indonesia but not Malaysia yet. Reuters has contacted several smartphone manufacturer but only Xiaomi replies that it denies participation of HUAWEI. Xiaomi stated that the GDSA is a platform where developer can upload their app on the platform, which is not directly competing with Google Play Store.

The real motive behind the creation of GDSA is still pending future outlook and whether who is the one behind the new platform.
