IHS Markit: Huawei 5G modem is less efficient than Qualcomm?!

A new research by IHS Markit has look into the development of 5G and the functionality, efficiency of the 5G chip from current market. The newest teardown revealed that Huawei has a less efficient and more expensive 5G chip than its competitor, Qualcomm.

Furthermore, the Kirin 980 utilizes an external Balong 5000 modem to communicate and receive 5G connection while the 4G to 2G connection were made via the SoC chip. It also has taken quite a huge chunk of space inside the mainboard leaving less item to be placed within.
