Samsung announces 14nm LPDDR5X DRAM, first available for Qualcomm chips

Earlier today, Samsung Semiconductor has announced their 14nm LPDDR5X RAM which will be put into Snapdragon platform. The 14nm RAM can achieve bandwidth up to 7.5Gbps which is 1.2x faster than LPDDR5 at 6.4Gbps. This could be fully utilized in application including voice recognition, audio recognition and other high intensive task.

“Qualcomm is an industry expert in enabling and adopting the latest LPDDR DRAM specifications,” said Ziad Asghar, vice president of product management at Qualcomm Technologies.

With LPDDR5X on the Snapdragon platform, users can experience new features and improved performance through the latest AI engine combined with various Qualcomm technologies during the use of mobile games, cameras, and applications, further enhancing the mobile experience.

To better meet the growing demand for high-end DRAM solutions, Samsung will continue to pursue the development of low-power DRAM products that provide higher performance and larger capacity to support the continuously updated next-generation systems.
