Snapdragon 820 features state of the art Adreno 530 processor!

The SISGRAPH 2015 has come to an end where all the computer graphics manufacuter has participated this event. Qualcomm, also joined the SISGRAPH by introducing their upcoming Snapdragon 820 processor which is powered by uniquely beast Adreno 530 graphical processing unit.

Qualcomm didn’t focus on the upcoming processor this time, they shifted their topic towards the upcoming graphical processor which are the Adreno 530 and Adreno 510 that falls into the Adreno 500 family. Both graphical image unit is likely to found in Snapdragon 820 and Snapdragon 620 (or 618) respectively.

The Adreno 500 series build is based on FinFET protocol which could be similar as the Samsung 14nm FinFET architecture. Nevertheless, it is expect to be on the market on the early 2016.

Qualcomm also introduced the Snapdragon 820 build where the Kyro CPU only comprised the small part of the processor. The 820 comes with Adreno GPU, DPU, VPU, Spectra ISP and DSP etc.

Andreno 530 GPU

Coming to a more depth of the processor, the Adreno 530 supports DirectX12, Vulkan and OpenCL 2.0, RendeScript and 64bit image processing architecture. It can share virtual memory with CPU for heterogeneous computing and it deliver faster video processing at low power.

Apart from deliver more than 40% performance compared from Adreno 430, it also consumes less battery which makes it an efficient graphical unit.

Qualcomm also perform a live demo of the “Paris apartment” from Unreal Engine 4.

Qualcomm Spectra ISP

The Qualcomm Spectra is an all new 14 bit image processor which comes with results in better image quality. It certainly improves the image quality with more natural skin tones and improves the hybrid autofocus framework. It certainly improves the image quality taken at the night with greater noise reduction.

Display Engine

The Snapdragon 820 Display Engine supports 4K display transfer in wired manner (HDMI 2.0) or via wireless transfer. Both are capable of streaming 4K videos in 30 to 60 fps on the TV. It also complies with REC.2020 color gamut and define a greater detail on picture quality.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor is a new beast after powered by the mightly Adreno 530 processor. The end result of such innovation is the revolution of the mobile smartphone processor which defines a new level of performance. Such processor are worth to anticipate for.
