As they are thousands of smartphone from the well known brand such as Samsung, Apple, HTC and Microsoft Lumia available in Malaysia, there is one smartphone brand you might not have heard of. Introducing Wiko, the smartphone that is originated from France has now arrived to Malaysia with its Wiko Fever, price starts from RM799.

Here comes the charging adapter and the data cable. The charging adapter is likely made from China and does not fall belong to the common 3 pin plug that is found in common Malaysian electrical appliances. A 3 pin compatibility port might be required to insert it to electrical socket.

The Wiko Fever is shaped just like a simple candy bar. It is incredible simple but eye catchy if you are a minimalist. The Wiko logo is embedded on top left of the smartphone.

It is clearly seen that Wiko Fever features firmware keyboard instead of capacitive touch navigation keys. However, there is a large bezel, or gap on the bottom of the smartphone which we felt wasted.

On the rear panel, it features a large protruded 13MP camera along with flash.

The volume rocker and power button are located on the top right which can be accessed conveniently.

The Fever comes with 5.2 inches Full HD display that comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Alongside the display, it comes with the highlighted glow in the dark frame which make the smartphone visible in darkness!

The rear panel is a polycarbonate build with a faux leather texture. This gives it more grip while not retain fingerprint.

The rear panel can be removed from the device but the battery is a dead fix! MicroSD and 2 SIM slots can be inserted into the smartphone from the rear panel.

The Wiko Fever comes with a 13MP rear camera that comes with a short focus time at 0.2 seconds. Those images taken from the Wiko Fever are deemed satisfactory for casual photography.

The professional shooting mode of the Wiko Fever comes with option for adjustment on Color Saturation, White balance, Sharpness and Exposure. This is quite handy when user would like to have adjustment on the image setting while fine tuning the camera.

Beauty mode

The Beauty mode is the most welcomed feature by those selfie addict. It fabricates the skin texture to a decent level without over manipulation of the texture density of the facial expression. Notice the difference between both?

The HDR image on the right shows a better colour saturation and brightness compared to the left.

Panaroma mode

The Panorama mode just working normal in stationary mode. Moving object might appear blurry in the panorama image.

Dual View function

The Dual View mode is one of the camera mode that has been appeared on common smartphone apps long time ago. It uses both camera to capture the object and the subject taking the image as shown in picture above.

Image taken in the night shows are large amount of noise, largely accounted for its longer shutter time when trying to absorb more light to make the image brighter.

Entertainment and Media experience

The Wiko Fever comes with a 5.2 inches Full HD display that is handy for drama and video watching on the go. Even the volume is locked at maximum, there is no distortion of audio from the speaker.

However, prolonged video watching will results is slight overheat on the smartphone. Our charging test shows 35% of battery is recharged in 1 hour of recharge time. One hour of gaming and video watching will drain the battery about 24%.

20160322_161851The Wiko Fever is a simplistic smartphone that comes with a candy bar design. The dimension and weight of this smartphone is well adjusted for a single hand operation while not appear heavy. However, the glow-in-the-dark frame is barely visible in the dark and bright environment.

If you don’t have large demands on the smartphone features and design, this smartphone is suitable for you!
