Apart from their recent announcement on the Snapdragon 855, it is followed by the launch of Snapdragon 8cx which is designed as a PC solution.
In a more layman term, the 8cx is an enhanced Snapdragon 855 which is based on 7nm process which offers twice the performance of a Snapdragon 850, thanks to the increased amount of transistor fitted into this tiny chip.
The architecture is based on octa-core Kryo 495 CPU with 4 primary and 4 supplementary cores. It is designed for lightweight PC which doesn’t requires a fan to operate.
the 8cx brings Snapdragon X24 4GB baseband module with maximum theoretical download speed at 2Gbps, 4×4 MIMO, LAA and other new technology. With the revolution of 5G network, Qualcomm also showcase a new PC that is capable of connected to 5G network. It is also the first Qualcomm QuickCharge 4+ supported platform.
The Snapdragon 8cx also brings Qualcomm Aqstic/AptxHD audio which supports Cortana and Alexa voice assistant on PC. The aptX technology offers HiFi audio for an enhanced music experience. Other module supports include USB Type C, NVMe SSD, PCI-E 3.0 slot and mroe. It is capable to run Windows 10 Enterprise edition, Microsoft Office 365, VMware, McAfee and Firefox.
This PC based processor will be launched next and available as early on Q3 2019. It is certainly possible that Lenovo could be the first few to have this chip in action.
