Retails at RM1149

The Nokia 5.1 Plus isn’t something new as it is the international variant of the Nokia X5 launched in China earlier. Despite almost being the same model, it still features state of the art design with 2.5D glass and a minimalist, clean and unibody design. It has a 5.86 inches HD+ display with aspect ratio at 19:9 with screen to body ratio up to 84%. This is something common on a flagship smartphone so it’s certainly decent to see manufacturers bring them to their own creation.

The 5.1 Plus is being powered by another entry level octacore processor from Mediatek and it comes along with standard 3GB RAM and 32GB of on board storage. Other features such as the newest USB Type C technology is being implemented with preservation of 3.5mm audio jack making it a good quality smartphone that matches today’s trend.

Despite being an entry level smartphone, it still have a decent quality of camera with 16MP and 5MP lens with AI depth of field effect support for selfie (aka Portrait mode).

As for the better performance Nokia 6.1 Plus, it shares the same dual glass panel with screen to body ratio at 93%, even higher than the 5.1 Plus. The display is now at Full HD which is much more better if you want to do the extra mile.

With SoC upgraded to Snapdragon 636, we can see quite decent performance in gaming and mobile computing, despite its no match for Snapdragon 650 and above. While delivering a better performance, it has a much larger battery sized at 3060mAh and USB type C port with 3.5mm audio jack which is good.

On the other hand, the Nokia 6.1 Plus camera has been further upgraded to 16MP + 5MP lens and a front 16MP camera capable for AI selfie, depth of field and the support of HDR mode for a more richer tone.

With the aid of Android One, it will receive Google updates in no time! It’s recommended to want a less customized software with security as first priority.

Lastly, the Nokia 6.1 Plus retails at RM1149 while the Nokia 5.1 Plus has yet to reveal, despite it will be cheaper than the earlier. Good news is, you can get a free action camera, free tempered glass and silicone case when you be the first 200 to purchase on October!
