The iPhone 6s from Apple comes with a 12MP iSight camera which is a big upgrade from the previous 8MP camera from the iPhone 6 in terms of the image resolution (and the ability to take live photos). The camera supports Focus Pixels auto focus technology, True Tone flashlgiht and f/2.2 camera aperture with single pixel density at 1.22 micron, The 5MP front FaceTime HD selfie camera promises decent image resolution when taking selfies.

Meanwhile, the Huawei Nexus 6P sports one of the camera sensor from Sony, a 12.3MP camera with f/2.0 aperture with single pixel density at 1.55 micron. Besides, the laser autofocus also greatly reduce the focal time while the CRI-90 dual flashlight compensates brightness in dark surrounding. The front camera is a 8MP camera that aims to take decent selfie in the front.

Based on the technical part we discussed up there, the Nexus 6P is better in terms of the single pixel density that boosts the colour and the details as well as saturation of the image.

Neverthless, we now put both smartphone into test

In outdoor shooting with great lightning and brightness, both smartphone camera appears to reproduce similar decent quality of images. The colour of the Nexus 6P appears more concentrated while the iPhone 6s image appears more natural. It is hard to decide and compare which one is the greatest in this aspect.

iPhone 6s

The Nexus 6P and the iPhone 6s both has different algorithm in calculating different exposure and brightness value, and thus the final image of both smartphone is different. In our testing, we found that the Nexus 6P does appeal more, but the white balance behind the flower petals were slightly lost. Meanwhile, the iPhone 6s colours remain natural with decent white balance, but it still suffers in the lack of sharpness and detail in comparison with Nexus 6P.

Both Huawei Nexus 6P and Apple iPhone 6s offer decent performance in the field of photography. In well lit outdoor environment, both smartphone performs as great as each other as the result are indistinguishable towards each other. However, Nexus 6P has a greater advantage in taking image in low light environment during the night that iPhone 6s suffered from. Nevertheless. the iPhone 6s still offers an outstanding quality of images compared to most common smartphone on the market today.
