According to foreign source, Apple will be adding satellite connection ability in the upcoming Apple Watch which allows user to make direct calls and text via satellite. By adding this feature, Apple Watch can directly be in contact with satellite and send emergency text or call to the recipient.
It is reported that Apple’s satellite connection function is divided into two parts, one is “send emergency messages through contacts”, when there is no network signal, users can send text messages to emergency services and contacts through the satellite network.
The second is to support users in reporting emergencies, such as car, boat or plane crashes, to the appropriate authorities. However, this function is not applicable everywhere, and the specific situation needs to be implemented according to local regulations.
